Above is my original oil painting on canvas.  It hangs on the bedroom wall of my brother who lives in Seattle.

This is the first digital variation based on the original oil painting.  Creating a digital print from a photograph I applied a filter to the print.

This is the second digital variation based on the original oil painting.  Using the same digital print as above I applied a different filter to the print.

This digital painting is the third variation based on the original oil painting.  Using the same digital print as above I applied a third filter to the print.

This is a new digital painting based on a photo. I call it “Walking in the Dark in the City”. I completely digitally painted the photo. The work for me invokes feelings of danger, of fear, of the unknown when a person, especially a woman, walks alone at night in the city.

I have been reflecting a lot recently on my art and my life as an artist. I have not been painting with “real” art tools such as brushes, paints, etc for a long time. Sometimes, I feel that I am not a real visual artist because I am not creating paintings using oils or watercolors. I do sometimes work with encaustics on wood panels. Yet, I consider my art as original even if it is digital. I am enjoying using software and software manipulation of images to express my creativity.  I really enjoy exploring my art using various softwares, exploring the depth as I try more new things, more filters and techniques.  As I have mentioned before, when I was growing up I wanted to be an explorer. In a sense, my art is about exploration in all kinds of ways. My path is jagged, not consistent.  I am happy with that.
